Eugene Domingo! :P

While doing lazy laps around the oval today, Tey and I saw Kimy Dora herself - Ms. Eugene Domingo! Mamarazzi in the flesh! :))

It felt terrible (and nakakahiya) to disrupt her training routine but my girlfriend she just had to have a picture with her.

We didn't get a chance the first time but we made sure we catch her on the next round. Here's me and Tey practicing if we can capture three of us.

It did not go very well and we did not want to risk it so I decided not to join the picture.

Here's Eugene with Tey (still shaking with excitement!) :))

Go go go! Sana umabot ka sa target time mo! :))

Eng'gfinity : The Engineering Centennial Run

July 18, 2010 UP Diliman. Letting go of PR targets for this run, I decided to run next to my girlfriend Tey and act as her pacer for her first ever 10k! Good job to my darling for finishing with an unofficial time of 1:27:17! :)))) Do you think you'll be ready for your first half-mary by November? :))

I also got the chance to join the UP Gears and Pinions Runners and we all finished together! Thanks for letting me and Tey carry the flag to the finish line! The closer the better! ;)

Of course, my HP running mates were also there during the run. Here are some pics.

Boys - Earl, Eugene, Noel

Girls - Mils, Tey, Dada

I honestly had fun today. It wasn't a very big event but it really felt like home - and I saw a lot of familiar faces too!

However, I think some guys got lost. Eugene and Noel themselves ran a different route from mine. But they still got all four straw markers. The distance registered in Eugene's Garmin was 9.6k.

"Dalawang ikot ako dun sa labas tapos dalawa dito sa oval." - Eugene

Other than this, I believe the run was generally ok. Just the right number of water stations and a nice route [although 10k was just 2x 5k].

I'll see you guys in the next centennial run! Yeah right. :P

Here are some more pics [from Kristine Millano, Ji Reyes, and Tristan Ramirez].

Early Runs a New Race

For a change, this blog is not about running. :))

In a few weeks, I'm leaving my work as an IT SM at HP to pursue a new career as a teacher in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines - Diliman.

While I will definitely miss the friends I have made in HP and P&G [client], I am really looking forward to this new adventure - an opportunity to share my knowledge in ME to the aspiring engineers of our country. :P

I thank everyone who made my stay in HP very much worthwhile. This is practically my first job so this is also where I first grew as a professional ( sort of ;) ) Thanks for the blended learning - experience, relationship, and training. I hope you guys continue to be the number 1 technology company in the world. It was nice to have guys like you who make saying goodbye so darn hard. ;))

I now move on to my next big race. Please pray for me and my students. I hope they learn a lot from Sir Earl! Hehe.

Good thing about being in UP is that I can run everyday at UP Acad Oval, do some sort of grass work at the Sunken Garden, and jump up and down AS steps to develop leg strength . Wait, did I say that this is not about running? :P

Thanks guys and have a happy ever after! Keep moving forward!

My First Attempt at 15K on UP Acad Oval

I have a hypothetical math question for you. In how many rounds on an oval path of 2.2 km circumference will Eugene and Noel meet Earl again for the first time if Earl is on an average 1.5 min / km slower than Eugene and Noel? Hint: On a normal day, Eugene and Noel can finish 10km in 52 minutes 30 seconds.

I do not know the answer yet but last Sunday, it took them about 4.8 rounds at the UP Acad oval! I was able to keep up with them for 2 rounds but it felt like I already hit the wall after that. I just wanted to keep going, push further, and finish 7 rounds too (which was about 15.4 km).

However, I think I was really in bad training condition. I only completed 5 rounds for a total of 11 km. I guess I can say that my first attempt is simply what it was - an attempt!

Although I was 4.4 km short of my target, I positively consider it to be another milestone for me or to be more accurate - a kilometerstone! I added one more kilometer to my longest distance completed!

On Sunday, I intend to go beat that distance record again by completing the 15 km category of The Green Miles at MOA!

What should my average pace (min/km) be if I want to finish 15 km within 1 hr 45 mins? :P
